The district is centred on Paddington station, Brunel's great train shed on Praed Street. The Heathrow Express ends here, the Elizabeth line runs through it, and Paddington Basin, the canal basin beside the station, has been rebuilt since 2000 with offices, apartments and towpaths. Edgware Road divides Paddington from Marylebone to the east; Bayswater lies to the south-west and Little Venice to the north-west.
That makes Paddington a place of short stays: a night before an early flight, a few days for business, a week in a serviced flat by the water. We visit hotels around the station and Praed Street, apartments around the basin, and private homes across W2.
