Little Venice grew up around the junction of the Regent's Canal and the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal, where a triangular basin called Browning's Pool lets long boats turn. The name is sometimes credited to the poet Robert Browning, who lived beside it on Warwick Crescent. Warwick Avenue runs through the area, and Paddington Basin begins just to the south-east.
It is an affluent, mostly residential district, so a visit here usually means a private home or apartment. We come to homes in Little Venice and Maida Vale, across W9 and the W2 side of the canal, and to hotels in neighbouring Paddington.
